Almost every business produces some form of Hazardous Waste. It is vital to understand the statutory definition of hazardous waste which has been established under the EU Waste Framework Directive. This differs in several respects from the definition of hazardous substances used in health and safety legislation. The quantity is irrelevant in deciding whether a waste is hazardous.

This one-day course provides delegates with a clear understanding of Waste & Environmental Legislation. - Provide delegates with refresher training on Waste & Environmental Legislation - Explain the Legal Terms relevant to Waste & Environmental Management - Explain the Planning and Permitting requirements - Summarise specific legislation

In order to meet the requirements of the CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Competence Scheme, technically competent managers must sit a Continuing Competence test every two years, to demonstrate their knowledge and skills have kept up to date with changes made across the waste management industry e.g. the introduction of new legislation, technologies and/or techniques. Therefore, all competent persons falling within the Scheme are required to demonstrate ‘Continuing Competence’ by completing a multiple-choice test.

The CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 1 in Waste and Recycling is the ideal Introduction to the world of Waste and Recycling. As a taught and tested qualification and is the ideal way of gaining the appropriate qualification, as the Delegate is taught everything they need to know! This qualification is open to anyone and doesn’t require you to have achieved any other qualifications previously.

The process starts with a two-day knowledge training course. This course will not only provide you with the knowledge and understanding to complete the written project and associated multiple-choice question test, but it will set you up for a career in health and safety in the waste management sector.

This is the ideal qualification for those in operative role. Assessed on site in the work environment, this qualification suits a range of site operations, from loading or unloading hazardous, non-hazardous or inert waste to aspiring or already appointed weighbridge operators or supervisors.

This is the ideal qualification for aspiring or already appointed supervisors. Assessed on site in the work environment, this qualification is suitable for a range of waste facilities. The mandatory units within the award cover customer service, communication and the more managerial/supervisory aspects. Whereas the optional unit groups can be tailored to the individual looking at processing operations, waste acceptance, environmental monitoring to name but a few.

This is the ideal qualification for those in an operative role regardless of facility type. The process starts with training course providing awareness of the waste and resource industry, and essential elements such as health and safety, environmental protection and sustainability. Once the training is complete, you will be required to complete a multiple choice question paper, covering a range of topics learnt during your training. This is a great way of ensuring your staff have the essential knowledge.

Delivered on site, you will be required to build up a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competence in areas relevant to your roles and responsibilities. This will include a number of assessment visits by one of our competent assessors, who will set you tasks, provide mentoring and support as well as being on hand to guide you through the process!

This qualification is assessed using variable methods of assessment, which ultimately depend on the units selected. Some units are made up of knowledge and therefor require the Learner to complete a range of knowledge questions, while other units are based around practical implementation of processes and procedures. This process would be assessed on site in the work environment to allow the Learner to demonstrate he or she has the required knowledge and skills to supervise waste activities.

This qualification has two pathways, the first being a general pathway suitable for a range of individuals such as those employed at transfer stations, HWRC's or waste collections. The second pathway is re-use, which is suitable for charity shops and other re-use facilities. Delivered on site, you will be required to build up a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competence, in areas relevant to your roles and responsibilities.

This qualification is suitable for aspiring or already appointed senior managers or Director working in areas of the business either, inside or outside of the scope of the Quarry Regulations 1999. Those managers or Directors involved in cement, asphalt (tar) plants, or block works, would complete pathway 1 only to achieve this qualification.

This qualification is suitable for aspiring or already appointed supervisors or managers working in areas of the business either, inside or outside of the scope of the Quarry Regulations 1999. Those supervising or managing cement, asphalt (tar) plants, or block works, would complete pathway 1 only to achieve this qualification.

This qualification is designed for those individuals who are responsible for the planning, implementation and supervision of maintenance activities and personnel within mineral products operations. To achieve this qualification, learners must complete all seven of the mandatory units. Completing this qualification demonstrates the learner's competence to supervise maintenance activities.

This qualification is aimed at mobile and static plant, or other operators who are required to undertake some form of basic maintenance as part of their job role. This qualification is not appropriate for fitters or Learners who carry out maintenance as their main job role. Those Learners should instead undertake the Level 3 Diploma in Maintenance for Mineral Products Operations.

This qualification is designed for individuals who carry out maintenance and/or fabrication activities on mobile and/or fixed plant. Typically Learners would be individuals who carry out maintenance activities in a range of applications based on experience and internal training with no formal qualifications.
