Level 2 Diploma for Sustainable Waste Management Operative (Team Leader) (SWMTL2) CIWM (WAMITAB)
This is the ideal qualification for aspiring or already appointed supervisors. Assessed on site in the work environment, this qualification is suitable for a range of waste facilities. The mandatory units within the award cover customer service, communication and the more managerial/supervisory aspects. Whereas the optional unit groups can be tailored to the individual looking at processing operations, waste acceptance, environmental monitoring to name but a few.
Description
The CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 2 Diploma for Sustainable Waste Management Operative (Team Leader) is achieved through assessment in the work environment, the process requires the Learner to demonstrate they have the required knowledge and skills to supervise teams of people at a waste facility.
The qualification process would include several visits by one of our competent Assessors.
The first assessment visit will include an induction to explain the process and the centre and awarding organisation’s policies, practices and procedures.
Delegates need to complete 10 units in total to achieve this qualification.
This must include the below 8 Mandatory units:
Mandatory Units:
• Work with others to improve customer service (ICSD8) – Level 3
• Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace (CS642) – Level 2
• Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for waste management activities (WO1) – Level 2
• Working with other people (WO2) – Level 1
• Contribute to the sustainability, maintenance and preservation of the environment (WO29) – Level 2
• Comply with emergency procedures on waste management activities (WO3) – Level 2
• Set objectives and provide support for team members (MSCB5) – Level 3
• Plan, allocate and monitor work of a team (MSCD5) – Level 3
Delegates must also complete a further 2 units from the below group:
Optional Unit Group B:
• Manage own professional development within an organisation (MSCA2) – Level 3
• Support customer service improvements (C&G017) – Level 2
• Maintain the security of waste management facilities (WO13) – Level 1
• Support learning and development within own area of responsibility (MSCD7) – Level 4
• Participate in meetings (MSCD12) – Level 2
• Validation of waste (WO10) – Level 2
• Acceptance of waste (WO11) – Level 2
• Manual handling, lifting and moving of loads in a waste environment (WO38) – Level 1
• Generate and retain waste and resource management business (WM10) – Level 3
• Control the risk from vehicle and plant movements on waste management facilities (WO7) – Level 2
• Conduct environmental monitoring on a waste management facility (WO23) – Level 2
• Oversee waste process operations (WO25) – Level 3
• Maintain the condition of waste process equipment (WO26) – Level 2
• Exchange responsibility for control of waste processing operations (WO27) – Level 2
• Contribute to maintaining sustainable development and environmental good practice at work (WO33) – Level 2
• Contribute to the provision of customer service in a waste environment (WM67) – Level 2
When the assessor arrives on site, they will be looking to observe the learner carrying out their daily duties, asking questions about the tasks they carry out, looking at the documentation and getting them to explain the various processes and procedures.
The process of achieving this award varies depending on the units selected; some units will require the Delegate to answer a question paper, and some require you to demonstrate your ability and understanding of a subject physically, but in the main, you will find most units are split into a question paper for half of the unit and physical performance for the other half to demonstrate your knowledge and skills fully.
This may also require them to gather documents relevant to their role, such as risk assessments, environmental procedures, check sheets, waste transfer notes, consignment notes, plant defect records and other such documents!
On completion, the Centre will claim your certificate, which will be scanned, and a copy sent in advance of the original.
